Going Green

In the midst of the holiday fray, I've had no time to paint. My familiar escape has been sorely missed. Finally, yesterday, I squeezed in a little painting time. As we all know. it is always a challenge to get back into painting after a long break. After several false starts, I was finally able to complete this small painting. This painting was based on a photo, taken from the passenger side car window, while driving between Killkenny, and Dublin. Everyone, just having returned from a trip to Ireland, always comments on how green the country is. It is really true, everything is very green, and not just green, all different varieties of green. I tried to capture that sense of greenness. It is everywhere. Just the opposite of California, where for most of the year the hills and fields are brown. There will be more. I have a small stack of photos, just waiting to be turned into paintings! Can hardly wait!

I love these colors - lime green and purple are 2 of my all time favorites. So excited to see you paint landscapes. you are going to love it - you will find you notice so much and gain so much appreciation in each season and even seemingly ordinary outdoor scenes will take on new vitality with your artist's eyes.

"Forty shades of green". It will be hard to capture the Irish landscape, as it is some of the most beautiful anywhere. My favorite place in the world.

Very nice, Nancy, for someone who doesn't "like" to paint landscapes!

I've heard about the greenness of Ireland - I'm sure it's gorgeous.

Thank you, all, for the nice comments. Actually, I have been so excited about painting landscapes. This "landscape, love affair", just started recently. It was triggered by taking photos from the passenger side window, while driving with Brian. What I just love are the varieties of terrain. There is so much to see! It is all so differnt, depending on the geography. We'll see where this, "love affair",goes. Stay tuned for more!
